Commercial Risk Model Director
You will direct the risk-costing team, which measures what each risk costs a client business. You set the team’s priorities, own the models it uses, and sign off the figures that go to clients.
What you will do
- Set the risk-costing team’s priorities and review its work.
- Own the models that measure each risk a client carries: the risk cost, the range around it, and the assumptions behind both.
- Enforce independent replication, so that no figure reaches a client before it has been rebuilt from a separate source.
- Decide how the team reconciles data sources that disagree, and record the reasons.
- Hold each recommended structure to our minimum success rate of 99.5% before PikaGuard puts its name to it.
- Review each client’s models as the business changes, and say when capital can be released or an exposure has grown enough to need cover.
- Explain the results to clients and to the sales team in terms a client can act on.
What you bring
- At least 15 years’ experience building, validating or approving pricing or risk models for commercial insurance or reinsurance.
- Experience leading a team of modellers or actuaries.
- A degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, physics or a related subject. An actuarial qualification is an advantage.
- The habit of testing a figure against a separate source before you rely on it.
- Clear writing: you can explain a probability to a finance director who is not a statistician.
